“Life starts with Women and ends with Women. That’s my story. ” Mouna Rebeiz
Mouna’s artworks are far from being flat or shallow; they are based on vision, philosophy creating a mirror into human’s inner world. She paints nudes, which she magnifies and glorifies. By making the subject her own, she opens a gateway into an obscure universe, where the radiance of the body overcomes the whole.
Rebeiz started painting nudes in 2005. Her first painting “Origines” is a reinterpretation of Gustave Courbet’s, A french painter of the 19th century, when she saw his painting for the first time at the (Musee d’orsay) in Paris. Then she added her skills & techniques, to boldly paint contemporary nudes on gigantic canavas. Since then, Mouna has been on an inner journey to discover the end of the beginning is “Women” quoting her “It took me 6 years to figure out what could be the: (END) The solution was here; so close. Life starts with Women and ends with Women. That’s my story.”
Her frescoes, reproduce Ancient history, are inspired by Phoenician and feminine mythologies. Mouna pays tribute to women who are an infatigable and prolific spirce of inspiration to the artist through her collections “Hymne a la Vie” (Celebration of life) & “Opera”.
